Status and factors associated with the adoption of data sharing policies in Asian journals

Purpose: This study investigated the current status and factors associated with adopting data sharing policies in Asian journals. Data vary by country region, few studies have examined trends related to these journals across region.Methods: The 2020 Scimago Journal Country Rank was used download about 1,143 indexed Web of Science. Excluding 40 inaccessible via Internet or without English-language websites author guidelines, 1,103 were analyzed through descriptive statistical analyses chi-square test.Results: Of journals, 325 (29.5%) had policies, showing a moderate level policy adoption among results test suggested that impact factor publisher type (whether commercial) significantly presence but subject categories not identified as significant factor. Regarding strength most provided only encouraged sharing.Conclusion: Policies encouraging are unlikely lead actual sharing; thus, considering varying levels effective ways induce authors’ compliance is important. Further research needs examine other affecting policies.
